The Power of Prayer
 Prayer is the most powerful exercise on earth. By prayer people, circumstances and nations are changes and transformed. Prayer is the only cure for spiritual sickness. “Enough people praying will release into the human bloodstream the mightiest medicine in the universe, for we can be the channels through whom God can exert his power.”   Why is Prayer Powerful 

1. It puts me in touch with God – the God who can do anything. Nothing is too hard for Him. Jeremiah 32:17, Matthew 19:26.

i)              Prayer opens me up to His ability to work in my life, and causes, me to see things in a different perspective. 1 Kings 19:18.

ii)             Prayer takes me outside the laws of nature. Exodus 14:22, Matthew 14:22-25

 

2. Prayer humbles me and saves me from conceit. “I cannot do it, I need help”. 2 Chronicles 26:5; 32:8; Ps 20:7

 

3. Prayer gives me new strength. Isaiah 40:29-31. This is not based on muscle power, but on God’s power. 1 Kings 19:8, Zechariah 4:6, Acts 1:8.

 

4. Prayer exercises my faith. Hebrews 11:6. My trust is in God 2 Chronicles 20:4,12.

 

5. Prayer keeps me from falling into temptation. Matthews 26:41, 6:13.

 

6. Prayer opens the door for the Gospel, to individuals, community, city and nations.

i)              Jesus gave Peter some keys to open and close. Matthew 16:19.

ii)             God opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. Acts 14:27

iii)            What God opens no-one can shut. Revelation 3:7

iv)            Ephesus open;1 Corinthians 16:8-9. Troas open; 2 Corinthians 2:12. Nations open; Matthew 28:19, Psalm 2:8.

 

7. People are released into ministry by prayer. Matthew 9:38, Luke 10:2, Paul & Barnabas; Acts 13:3. Elders Acts 14:23.

 

8. People are strengthened by your prayers. Luke 22:31-32.

 

9. Prayer fills people with a boldness. Acts: 4:31.

 

10. Prayer releases people into the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Acts: 8:15.

 

11. Prayer puts words into your mouth. Ephesians 6:19.

 

12. Prayer puts us in a place where we can receive revelation. Acts: 10:9.

 

13. Prayer releases people from prison. Acts:12:5-11.

 

14. Prayer is used to bring in God’s Kingdom. Matthew 6:10

 

15. Prayer releases God’s grace. Genesis 18:16-33.
